October 28, 2008: MASSACHUSETTS PROFESSIONAL POKER PLAYER BERNARD LEE TAKES WORLD POKER FINALS TITLE: LEE BESTS MORE THAN 300 TO SCORE THIRD TITLE IN THREE YEARS

MASHANTUCKET, Conn. - For the third year in a row, Massachusetts professional poker player Bernard Lee has captured a World Poker Finals title at Foxwoods Resort and Casino. Lee entered the final table of the $600 no-limit hold’em shoot-out on Oct. 27 as the chip leader and never relinquished his lead during the seven hour final table. He walked away with $22,893 in prize money and the championship trophy.

The Wayland resident was one of 330 players to compete in this World Poker Finals event, which began Oct. 26. Lee previously won the 2007 World Poker Finals $2,000 no-limit hold’em event and the 2006 World Poker Finals $5,000 no-limit hold’em event. This is Lee’s third career title, fourth final table in 2008 and brings his total tournament earnings to $1.35 million.

Lee catapulted into the poker spotlight when he finished 13th in the 2005 WSOP Main Event and became the year’s top New England finisher. Since then, he has shined on the tournament circuit and become a media personality.

Host of “The Bernard Lee Poker Show” broadcast on 1510 AM The Zone and Rounders Radio (www.roundersradio.com), Lee will release his second book, The Final Table, Volume II before the end of the year. The first book (The Final Table, Volume I) was released in July. Both books are compilations of Lee’s Sunday poker columns in the Boston Herald. Lee also writes for www.ESPN.com’s Poker Club and www.PokerNewsDaily.com.

Lee teaches for the well-known World Poker Tour Boot Camp and has become a poker commentator, most recently for www.worldseriesofpoker.com and the Eastern Poker Tour.

Lee will compete in several upcoming World Poker Finals events, ending with the $10,000 Main Event next week.
