May 1, 2008: Massachusetts Professional Poker Player, Media Personality Bernard Lee Celebrating One-Year Anniversary of Poker Radio Show

BOSTON, Mass. - New England’s top professional poker player Bernard Lee is lead commentator of the Eastern Poker Tour (EPT) Championship Tournament, a free bi-annual regional competition of pub poker league players vying for a seat at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), set to air May 17 on Comcast SportsNet.

The EPT Tournament of Champions will be televised for ten weeks and feature action from the final table event held this past January. The show will premiere at 9:30 p.m. May 17 and run in that same time slot until July 19. It will also be repeated at various times during the weekday.

Winners of each Tournament of Champions, held every six months, go on to represent the EPT at the WSOP, the world’s largest poker stage with a prize pool of more than $50 million. The next Tournament of Champions will take place in June. Players qualify for the Tournament of Champions by winning a free local poker tournament held at bars and restaurants all over Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Lee, a Wayland resident, catapulted into the poker spotlight after he finished 13th in the 2005 WSOP and became the top New England finisher. Lee has won more than $1.3 million and two titles on the tournament circuit.

Lee has also become a media personality who debuted in March as a poker commentator covering the WSOP Circuit Main Event in Atlantic City, N.J. for www.worldseriesofpoker.com. Lee also hosts The Bernard Lee Poker Show on 1510 AM The Zone and Rounder’s Radio (www.roundersradio.com), is an instructor for the well-known World Poker Tour (WPT) Boot Camp and a poker columnist for the Boston Herald and ESPN.com. Lee will release in June his first book, The Final Table, Volume 1, a compilation of his Sunday Boston Herald poker columns.

Lee’s most recent tournament finish was 2nd place this April in the WSOP $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Circuit Event at Caesars Indiana. This summer, Lee will compete in the WSOP at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
