July 20, 2008: Massachusetts Professional Poker Player and Media Personality Bernard Lee Offers Insider’s View of the Tournament Circuit in his First Book

BOSTON, Mass. - The natural teaching ability of professional poker player Bernard Lee shines throughout his first book, a compilation of his popular columns in the Sunday Boston Herald now enhanced by newly penned notes of insight and observation. The columns use real life scenarios to create understandable lessons and provide a glimpse into the intense world of tournament poker.

The Final Table, Volume I, published by iUniverse, begins with a forward by 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Champion Joe Hachem. Calling himself a fan and Lee “an excellent teacher of the game,” Hachem says the Wayland resident makes poker more accessible to players of all levels though his writing.

The Final Table, Volume I shares its name with Lee’s Sunday column and is comprised of his 2005 to 2006 Boston Herald columns. The book is available for $19.95 through Lee’s website, www.bernardleepoker.com.

According to ESPN.com Poker Club Editor Andrew Feldman, Lee’s book is “a must read for poker players of all levels, as it gives you an unusual opportunity to get into the mind of a great poker player and columnist,” he said. “You will learn something new to better your game with every column you read.”

Linda Johnson, better known as the First Lady of Poker, said “Bernard has an amazing ability to take complicated tournament strategies and make them easy to understand. To say that he is a master teacher would be an understatement. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player, his lessons will enhance your play and help to increase your bankroll.”

Lee began writing for the Boston Herald in September 2005, two months after he finished 13th in the 2005 WSOP and became the top New England finisher. He also writes regular columns for the ESPN.com Poker Club and contributes to several magazines.

Lee traded in his career in medical device marketing at Boston Scientific Corporation in the summer of 2007 to become a professional poker player. On the professional poker circuit, Lee has amassed more than $1.3 million in career winnings and captured two tournament titles.

In the poker media world, Lee created New England’s only poker radio show with “The Bernard Lee Poker Show” on 1510 AM The Zone, expanded the show nationwide by joining Rounder’s Radio, became a regular instructor for the well-known World Poker Tour Boot Camp and entered the world of poker commentating, most recently for www.worldseriesofpoker.com and the Eastern Poker Tour.

Lee’s most recent tournament finish was 75th out of 2,706 players this June in the WSOP $1,500 No-Limit Hold ’em Event at Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
